Here are some “tried & true” recommendations from articles published on the website: Web MD. 1. Make small changes. Read labels and choose foods with less grams of fat and less grams of sugar. 2. Control portions. Don’t “super-size” that meal! Prepare meals at home where you can control the amount and type of fats used to prepare the foods. 3. Eat lots of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Limit fats, alcohol, sugar, white bread and treats. 4. Eat a healthy breakfast that includes protein like low fat milk, yogurt, lean meat, or an egg. Many overweight people skip breakfast. 5. Find some physical activities you enjoy. Walking not only helps you lose weight it can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes by 58%. Yoga improves balance and physical performance. Exercise performed while sitting can keep you limber and maintain muscle strength. 6. Don’t manage stress with food. It is better if you exercise, take a bath or call a friend. 7. Keep a record of what you eat. You would be surprised what you consume in a day and what you could do without! FAD diets don’t work! People usually gain the weight right back. Start slow and be happy with a
