First Reconciliation/First Eucharist

Second grade parents and students have begun a special time of preparation for the Secraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to grow together in faith, to deepen their own faith and to strengthen relationships with one another. The parish community supports you with prayer that this time will be one of great joy and many blessings.

ACRE Assessment Results

In October, students in grades 5 & 8 took the ACRE Assessment of Religious Education as part of our religious program evaluation. This assessment measures how well our students are doing and guides us in making changes in our program so we can continue to provide a good education. You may be interested in seeing how our students (your child) compares in relation to students nationally in parish programs. Learning key concepts of the faith, however, is only the first aspect. Throughout our lives we continue to grow in faith, put what we know into practice and pass it on to the next generation.

Tournament of Truth

Students in Grades 5 & 8 are welcome to participate in the Tournament of Truth competition. The first two rounds will take place on Saturday, March 14th and then final two rounds will take place on March 28th. Thos participating will need to have their own transportation or make other arrangements. We congratulate those students who are participating and wish them the best.

Haiti Lenten Project

Our Lenten Project for Haiti will begin on February 22, with a pancake breakfast for the parish. All donations will go toward this project. Our goal this year is $2,000. To date we have raised over $8,500. Just as praying is one thing the Church asks us to do during Lent, sacrifice is another thing we are asked to do. Sacrifice means going without something you like or doing something that's hard so others are helped. When we sacrifice, we follow Jesus.

Youth Retreat

There will be a retreat for students in Grades 6-9 on April 4th at Our Lady of Mercy. Please mark your calendars now and plan to attend. Watch for more details in the bulletin.
